There was a time when I was seriously considering a purchase of one these longroofs and would spend hours window shopping listings for the perfect rare specimen, with the sport package and RS4 style wheels. Not long ago these Avants commanded a serious premium over their sedan counterparts. I gave up my search after determining that, despite their sexy lines and utility, I just wasnt ready for the two pedal lifestyle. The one major downside to the B8 Avant was that it was only ever available with an automatic transmission, unlike the sedan that could be had with a six speed manual. While the regular A4 Avant wasnt nearly as fast as the ultra desirable S4, it was equipped the Volkswagen groups 2. HP and 2. 58 lb ft of torque, which is about the same output of the current GTI.
